Darren is a daring teen who practices astral projection. When he decides to venture further than he's ever been, something unimaginable is waiting for him.

This was made for the o2a2 jam. It's a short story including 1k words, 1 sprite, and 1 background.

#O2A2VN

The idea for this game is taken from text in The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean, where he warns of these guardians at the end of space-time, that travel in strange angles not known to man. The only way to escape them is through circles.

I saw the title of this one and immediately went "Oh, please let it be the cosmic horror thing!" and was delighted when it was! Love the writing and atmosphere. But I think having to fit this into the constraints of O2A2 hurt it somewhat--we end up hearing really evocative descriptions of things you can't show while we're just looking at a black screen. (But putting that creepy art on the background of the game page is a very clever workaround.)

Loved the artwork and the cosmic horror vibes, felt very Lovecraftian! I also enjoyed the parallel between Darren not liking being in his own body and the incomprehensible cosmic bodies he’d encounter.

Wow! The story was very well written and I enjoyed the Music a lot. It really fits the vibe :D
Great game!

I love the artstyle of your game, you really use colour well to make visually appealing cg's. The narrative was definitely interesting, the idea of travelling so far through astral projection brings up a lot of questions; such as if there would be any issues with our astral forms connection to our body due to the distance?; does time move differently the farther away we wander?

Would love to see another game in this setting, maybe exploring the ramifications of the Dwellers following us back to Earth.

Great entry for the game jam!

That was so cool and intriguing! 😲

Loved the art, but even when it wasn't on screen, the writing was so good it didn't need any illustrations. Fantastic job! 💕
